ACF was founded in 2013 with the vision of assisting and empowering marginalized and ignored communities that society usually deems hopeless and helpless, those communities include people and animals alike, giving them a chance to live a better quality of life.

In 2016, I visited their temporary shelter with my camera and was immediately struck by the challenging yet rewarding nature of ACF’s mission.

The goal of portraiture, to me, is to reveal the very soul of the subject, even if it’s a glimpse. It’s in the eyes of these extraordinary creatures - neglected, shunned or abused by society - where the camera finds reservoirs of emotion, of fortitude, of resilience…of love.

The intent behind these works is not to draw a line between Mankind and everything else. it is to reveal our interconnectedness as beings, all making our way temporarily on this planet which is home to us all.
