In this exhibition, S. M. Raza and Nayab Noor experiment with color, texture and form to depict florescence and decay in our world. An almond tree grows beside a stationary car. Art converses with leaves, seeking a permanent way to record impermanence. Woods and beans transform into metal. Peeling paint; peeling skin. Standards of human beauty become meaningless in light of time’s ravages. Prussian blue skies, shifting clouds. Shadows and light. Flowers that bloom and then droop. Between sunrise and sunset, light, rain and wind leave their marks. Nothing is above or beyond the impact of a day.

Human faces, transfigured and fragmented by the light. Interiors opening their secret spaces. Objects that glitter. Moody walls. Nothing is whole, apart from impressions, caught on canvas, of the passage of time and life. And the imperfection and its restless movement are stunningly beautiful and eminently
worthy of our attention.

Raza and Nayab invite us to look quickly, deeply, with great sensitivity, at the world they have created.
