Artist’s Statement:

Macro social, political, and cultural issues plague our psyches and understanding how they manifest themselves in my life is my main area of inquiry. Growing up confronted me with several physical and psychological phenomena and so I endeavour to embody the feminist slogan from 1969 "the personal is political” in my practice. Staying within the personal sphere frees me of the danger being presumptuous.

As my work is largely confessional I use personal images I have collected over time as my source material. I abstract them slightly and use the figures and symbols to invoke a psychological narrative as I explore identity, culture and gender.
